In our busy, “on the go” lives, it can be easy to ignore our intuitive feelings, or block them out altogether. There is often a belief that external pressures (ie: work, family, friends) are creating a reality for us where we “have to” do this or that. Sometimes these “have to’s” are out of alignment with our pull of what we “should be” or “could be” doing. Yet the belief we hold about these external pressures can keep us writing a story for our lives that is not actually our own but a construct created by what we believe others expect of us. Beliefs are one of the things that can block us from listening to or even truly tapping into our own inner wisdom.
Self doubt can also play a big role in allowing us to ignore or discount the wisdom we are being offered. One of the most common things I hear from people when they are getting intuitive information is “What if this is just a fantasy I am having” or “What if my imagination is just making this up?” My response? What if it is? That information is coming from somewhere and I believe that our intuition is tied closely to our creativity. I am not suggesting that you make decision based on every fantasy or strong feeling that arises, but I am suggesting that you at least give that experience a little air time. Think about it. Feel into it. Journal about it. Write from a place of “what if” as in “what if you followed the feeling you are experiencing, where would it take you”. As mentioned before being heady or very logical, as well as being disconnected from your body sensation can also create a block or a dismissal around the information your intuition is offering you. One of the easiest ways to shift disconnect is to begin a breathing practice. Our breath is one of the greatest tools we have and we can access it at any time anywhere. Try it now. Close your eyes and take three big deep belly breaths, making sure to exhale all the way out at the end of each breath. What do you notice? Connecting to your body is one of the most powerful things you can do to tap into your intuitive wisdom.
